Rakesh Ramakrishnan

Meet Rakesh

Dr. Rakesh Ramakrishnan is a devoted father, husband, and respected spine surgeon running for Michigan State Senate. Raised on the values of hard work, family and service passed down from his immigrant parents, Rakesh has spent his life caring for others — and now he's ready to serve the people of Michigan with the same dedication.

A product of public schools, Rakesh earned degrees in chemistry and economics, followed by an MBA, and then medical training in orthopedic and spine surgery. He understands firsthand the value of quality education and the transformative power of opportunity.

Starting in grassroots politics—from writing postcards to serving as a precinct delegate and active local Democratic leader—Rakesh is ready to bring his problem-solving, evidence-based approach to Lansing. His goal is to apply the same compassion he uses in medicine to address the challenges facing our communities.

If elected, Dr. Ramakrishnan will work tirelessly to strengthen Michigan's health care system, education, and economy—improving lives across the state.

Key Issues

Healthcare

Healthcare shouldn't bankrupt you. A healthy population leads to a productive society. Rakesh is fighting to protect Michiganders' access to quality and affordable healthcare.

Strong Schools

Every child deserves a good education. Funding our teachers properly, keeping our local schools safe, and making sure college doesn't mean a lifetime of debt.

Economy

Build a stronger Michigan economy where everyone has the chance to secure their future.

Common Sense Government

Cut the red tape, elect leaders who actually listen, and make government work for regular people — not special interests.
